bio
Born in lovely Perth, Western Australia,
I currently make my home in New York, NY, where I've lived since 2006.
Since June, 2006, I've been employed as a senior information architect with Razorfish in New York City. In 2007 , I worked with a Razorfish team to redesign EMC.com. That design was awarded WebAwards for Best Information Services Website and Best Technology Website. I also contributed both as a content strategist and copy writer to the WWD.com redesign, which won Razorfish an award for Best of the Web in Design from min.
Previously, I worked with the good folks in the Interactive Design Group at Wachovia for four-and-a-half years. In 2002, Wachovia merged with First Union Bank to become the fourth largest bank in the United States. Under the guidance of Dale Bass, Web Design & Usability Manager, I helped the bank combine two legacy intranets sites and an interim site into a new umbrella site called Inside Wachovia Exchange. We then successfully migrated hundreds of subsites to Exchange. In 2003, our small team received a great honor: The Nielsen Norman Group awarded Wachovia's intranet one of its prestigious Ten Best Intranets of the Year awards. In 2004 I began working full time at Wachovia as an Assistant Vice President in the Interactive Design Group.
I also served as a content developer and information architect for
both Computer Associates and iXL.
Before the dotcom (dotbomb?) revolution, I was Communications
Coordinator for the South Carolina Organ Procurement Agency, Inc.
I earned degrees in both
broadcast journalism and English. I also studied political journalism
at Georgetown University and creative writing at Southampton College
in New York. I interned in Washington, DC before "intern" earned
a more salacious connotation. In Summer 2002, I studied Czech language,
literature, and culture at Charles University in Prague, the oldest
university in central Europe.
I have also written book, art, and music reviews, as well as feature articles and award-winning fiction. My writing has featured in numerous publications, including Skyscraper magazine, Make, Pixelsurgeon, Open Sewer, Zmag.com, Creative Loafing, The Charlotte Post-Courier, The Korea Herald, The Korea Tribune, and Isosceles, a small poetry journal. I also write regularly for Razorfish publications such as Scatter/Gather, Headlight Blog, and Slant.
I have developed interests in writing, design, information architecture, politics, human rights, music, photography, cinema, literature, anthropology, pattern recognition, and neurology, as well as the sciences in general.
I have lived in three countries on
three continents.
