Nextel

I worked on this project for Nextel South America several years ago, so I would design for this material differently now given the increased emphasis on responsive and mobile design since then. Nonetheless, I’m proud of the work I did on this enormously complex project, which involved resdesigning the Nextel experience to promote both their products and services, not just for a single site, but for an experience, which could be adjusted across several countries in North and South America, including Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.

Handling a Complex, Bifurcated Information Architecture

Site map for Nextel Brazil, which would provide direction for several countries’ website experiences.

Above you’ll see the site map I developed, which helped guide, not only the complex navigation need needed to handle both logged in and logged out experiences, but also to showcase Nextel’s products and services in those states.

A Scalable HOMEPAGE EXPERIENCE to highlight both products & Services

Here’s the wireframe I developed for the Nextel homepage. It had to be scalable across countries, allow for a log in and access to an ecommerce experience. It needed present both products and services for consideration and to allow for both Spanish and Portuguese language presentation in the future. I also completed all of the annotations on the wireframes for this project.

I would articulate quite a few things differently in this design now—both to simplify its navigation and to significantly improve it from a responsive perspective—but I present here it as an example of the highly complex work I have completed.

I also had the opportunity to travel to Brazil and Mexico for this project, both to meet with the local Nextel office and to supervise usability testing and focus groups efforts conducted in Sao Paulo and Mexico City.
