Portfolio

As a user experience professional, I’ve worked in the roles of information architect, interaction designer, content developer, content strategist, creative director and UX manager. I’m also experienced with copywriting, social media strategy and public relations.

I've worked with dozens of clients, including the American Red Cross, AT&T, Bank of America, Delta Faucet, EMC, Ford, FreshDirect, Genesis, J.P. Morgan, Mercedes-Benz, Morgan Stanley, Nextel, Oppenheimer Funds, PNC, Prudential, smart USA, Travel Channel, Wachovia, and Women's Wear Daily.

The following portfolio includes work, which I either developed myself or, where noted, managed the development of for clients with diverse needs across varying devices.

Mercedes-Benz

I’ve worked extensively with Mercedes-Benz for the past few years across multiple projects and sites including Mercedes-Benz USA, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, the Mercedes me and My MBFS apps, Freightliner Vans, ExpertUpfitter Portal, Fleet Portal, and smart USA.

Home page with “jukebox” functionality for the Mercedes-Benz Vans web site. This feature allowed visitors a unique way to review homepage content, breaking the mold from the typical carousel. Our updates to this homepage enabled a 700% increase in click-through and user engagement on interior pages.

I’ve worked extensively with Mercedes-Benz Vans to develop new features and to redesign existing features across the MBVans.com site.

I lead brainstorming sessions, such as this one in which we considered future directions for the Build Your Van feature.

I supervise all UX work and collaborate with UX designers to develop wireframes for complex, responsive features such as updated homepage, model and trim pages, Build Your Van, upfitting, special offers, Van Finder, and the robust new inventory feature on mbvans.com, as well as many other features. We have also worked on other projects to create related sites for Vans, such as the ExpertUpfitter Portal for upfitter professionals and the forthcoming Mercedes-Benz Fleet portal, which will allow companies with sizable fleets such as Amazon, UPS and FedEx to purchase large quantities of vans directly online.

Upfitting & Build Your Own Van Feature

Sample screens from the Mercedes-Benz Vans upfitting experience for desktop and mobile

Here’s a single step in the highly complex upfitting experience we developed for Vans, which works fluidly from desktop down to mobile.

We also redesigned their BYO (Build Your Van) feature so it flowed seamlessly into this upfitting feature and so it, too, could be used on mobile devices, as well as desktops.

We’re confident this is the most user-friendly implementation of a mobile BYO/upfitting experience in the vertical. In fact, upon launch the site saw a 22% improvement in BYO completion rate, with those visitors being more likely to become a lead and/or estimate a payment.

We later updated this incredibly complex feature to completely integrate the upfitting products.

Inventory

The best inventory search in the industry
— Mathias Geisen, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans

In 2017, we also added an inventory feature to the site, which Mathias Geisen, the head of Mercedes-Benz Vans referred to as “the best inventory search in the industry.” We have since also added the ability to purchase certified pre-owned vehicles on the website.

My MBFS App

Logged-out and logged-in versions of the My MBFS app navigation scheme

I designed the UX for these screens for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services to build out their existing My MBFS app, which was optimized for tablet. This project required several new features to be designed from scratch, as well as a new more robust navigation scheme.

This experience allows consumers to engage a payment estimator tool using real inventory and then compare vehicles or to find a vehicle based on their particular budget. It also contains educational material and an interactive feature, which helps them determine whether they should lease or finance their vehicle.

Delta Faucet

Delta Faucets Home Page

I designed the user experience for presenting Delta faucet’s extensive product range, including the development of complex collection filters, which visitors could use to refine results on the site. We ensured the experience scaled gracefully across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Day One

Day One’s Home Page

For several years now, I’ve worked on a pro-bono basis with Day One, a non-profit which works with at-risk young people in the New York City.

I helped design the overall experience, which they’ve since updated and continue to advise their team and assist with updates and user research. I’m working with a small team now to update the site and improve its functionality, which has been limited due to budget constraints.
